QuickBooks Enterprise vs. Intuit Enterprise Suite

Intuit Enterprise Suite

In September, 2024, a new product was launched called “Intuit Enterprise Suite”.  This naturally has created some confusion because it sounds like a very popular desktop software called QuickBooks Enterprise!

What’s the difference?

QuickBooks Enterprise – This has been around for over 10-years.  It’s a traditional Windows Desktop application.  Originally designed to be run on premise, but can be run in the cloud via an authorized hosting provider.  Learn more

Intuit Enterprise Suite – (IES) Think of Intuit Enterprise Suite as QuickBooks Online on a much larger scale. At launch, it retains the familiar QBO menu structure while expanding its features and capacity. Additionally, it was announced that the new IES will support up to 500 users, a significant increase from the previous limit of 40 users in QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop Software.  To understand the relationship between QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite, see our blog post.

Presently, there is a significant overlap with “limitations” that originate from QuickBooks Online.  As an example, both QBO Advanced and IES allow 12 custom fields.  However, as a strange limitation in both programs, only 9 of these fields are accessible via the API.  Therefore, when integrating IES with other software, only 9 custom fields can be shared.  It is expected that as IES evolves, more functionalities will be added. In the meantime, don’t be surprised if you find many similarities between the 2 programs.
